“We have passed the tipping point and a cultural change is needed”, Dan Fougere, President of the Antigonish Chamber of Commerce
The Antigonish Chamber of Commerce is proud to stand in solidarity with the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre in denouncing sexual violence and harassment against women and girls in our community and around the world. We are supportive of the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services initiative to develop “A Coordinated Response to Sexual Violence in Nova Scotia”. All Nova Scotians should be able to live free from sexual violence in the workplace, in our communities and in our homes.
Our Chamber has zero tolerance for sexual violence and harassment. Our definition of objectionable behavior includes verbal and physical abuse, unwelcome remarks, display of offensive material, inappropriate jokes and unwelcome invitations. Our current Harassment Policy will be placed on the agenda of our next regularly scheduled Board Meeting for review and affirmation. We have passed the tipping point and a cultural change is needed. It is time for each and every one of us to “call out” unacceptable comments and behavior that we may witness in our daily lives.”#nomoreantigonish #nomore #16daysofactivism
